SOCi Sponsors Students in Advertising & Marketing Summer Boot Camp

Everyone, regardless of background, should have the opportunity to pursue a career at a place like SOCi. Unfortunately, children in underserved communities are not exposed to private sector jobs and have limited career awareness because of it. SOCi’s Diversity and Inclusion Council believes we need to change that.

SOCi is thrilled to be a part of an exciting program that aims to level the playing field for the next generation of advertising and marketing professionals – think future SOCialites. SOCi is partnering with Givsly, a social impact platform for business professionals to sponsor 50 students in Givsly’s Summer Boot Camp series from SuitUp, a student business competition company. SOCi is among a group of sponsors taking steps outside their organizations to address diversity gaps and demographic disparities in advertising and marketing.

Kicking off in July, the 10-week program aims to introduce marketing and advertising as a career option for young students living in underserved communities through a series of weekly challenges. Givsly will be connecting agencies and businesses like SOCi that are active in its network to sponsor a total of 2,500 participants across major metropolitan cities around the U.S. As part of  SOCi’s sponsorship, 15 SOCi employees will get to participate as coaches.

Through these boot camps, students (10-18 years old) experience solving a realistic corporate challenge facing the industry. Students will work in teams with corporate coaches to network, brainstorm, and record Shark-Tank style pitches in 3-day virtual business competition aimed at giving a unique experience for students to be the boss. By the end of the experience, students can see the corporate world as part of “their world” and know that job titles, such as CEO, CFO, VP of Marketing, etc. are now in their grasps.

In addition to SOCi, SuitUp’s Summer Bootcamp corporate sponsors include dentsu Media, Index Exchange, Fox, Initiative, Vistar Media, Smartly.io, Mobilefuse, and AdTheorent. Find more information about the bootcamp here.
